AutoLytiQs™

Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 26 July 2026
Drafting notice: This document was prepared with AI assistance to give AutoLytiQs a genuine, working set of terms covering South African consumer protection and data privacy law. It has not yet been reviewed by a qualified South African attorney. It should be treated as a working draft, not a finished legal instrument, until that review happens - particularly before relying on it in any dispute.

1. What this service is

AutoLytiQs™ ("we," "us," "the Service") is an informational tool that helps you research a used vehicle before buying it. When you paste a listing URL or enter vehicle details manually, we check our knowledge base of documented reliability issues and, where available, compare the asking price against real listings for similar vehicles.

We show risk indicators, not guarantees. Our reports highlight patterns and concerns based on the data we have - some areas may have limited or no data. The Service is designed to help you ask better questions before you buy, not to replace your own judgement, a qualified mechanic, or a legal/roadworthy check.

Market data shown is for information purposes only and is based on publicly available listings from South African vehicle marketplaces, where accessible. AutoLytiQs™ is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in partnership with any car marketplace, dealership, or manufacturer.

2. Before you rely on a report

The final selling or buying price of any vehicle depends on its actual physical condition, negotiation, location, and the current market - factors a remote report cannot fully capture. We strongly recommend you obtain a professional pre-purchase inspection (PPI) from a qualified mechanic before making any purchase decision.

This Service does not replace, and should never be treated as equivalent to:

A report showing no major documented risk indicators does not mean a vehicle is safe, accident-free, or mechanically sound - it means our specific knowledge base did not have a matching documented issue for that vehicle at the time of your search.

3. Your rights under the Consumer Protection Act

South Africa's Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA") applies to this Service, and nothing in these terms is intended to reduce the rights it gives you. In particular, regardless of what you accept by using this Service:

If you believe you have been treated unfairly, you may lodge a complaint with the National Consumer Commission (thencc.gov.za) in addition to any other legal remedy available to you.

4. Your privacy and POPIA

We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").

What we collect

No account or login is required to use this Service. When you run a search, we store the vehicle details you provide or that were extracted from a listing (make, model, year, mileage, price, VIN if supplied) and the result of that search. This is never linked to your name, email, or identity - we record what was searched, not who searched it. It's used to avoid repeating an expensive live market check for the same vehicle shortly after it's already been checked, and to record that these terms were accepted alongside each search (a timestamp only - not personally identifying on its own).

Payment information

If you unlock a full report, payment is processed by PayFast (Pty) Ltd, a licensed South African payment gateway - we do not see or store your card or banking details. PayFast processes that information under its own privacy policy as an independent data processor.

Lawful basis for processing

We process the search data above on the basis of legitimate interest (providing the Service you've requested) and, where applicable, your consent given via these terms.

Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to request confirmation of what personal information we hold about you, request correction or deletion of it, and object to its processing. Because search data isn't linked to an identity, we generally cannot locate a specific individual's search history on request unless you can identify the specific search (e.g. by reference number) - contact us using the details below and we'll assist as best we can.

Contact / Information Officer

For any POPIA request or privacy question, contact: [insert a real, monitored contact email address here before this page is relied upon]

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by the CPA and other applicable South African law - and subject always to Section 3 above - AutoLytiQs™ provides this Service on an "as is, as available" basis. We do our best to keep our knowledge base accurate and our market data current, but we do not guarantee that any report is complete, error-free, or that it identifies every issue a vehicle may have.

You are responsible for your own purchasing decisions. We recommend you use this Service as one input among several - alongside a mechanic's inspection, an ownership/clearance check, and your own judgement - rather than as the sole basis for a purchase decision.

This section is a reasonable allocation of risk for an informational service, not a claim that AutoLytiQs™ bears no responsibility whatsoever - as explained in Section 3, South African law would not permit that claim, and we're not making it.

6. Payments

Unlocking a full report is a once-off payment for access to the documented findings matched to your specific search - not a subscription. Payment is only ever requested when a real, documented knowledge card has matched your vehicle; if nothing matched, there is nothing to unlock and you will not be charged. Refund requests can be directed to the contact address in Section 4.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service changes (for example, as our knowledge base grows or new features are added). The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
